We hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break! We had wonderful breaks traveling with our families! We are ready to jump back in and finish this fabulous school year with lots of energy and excitement!
Mrs. Webb will be teaching Monday-Wednesday and Mrs. Routson will be teaching Thursday-Friday. Please email us both with questions/concerns.

*Mrs. Routson/Mrs. Webb’s Reading Group: We will be reading “Frog and Toad Together” and doing comprehension activities with the story. Please only read chapters 1 & 2 at home. Return the book to school each day as we are using it in class. We are also tying this book in with what we have learned in Fundations by reviewing suffixes and trick words. We will have a cold read passage on Friday. There will be a quiz on Chapter 1 & 2 of “Frog and Toad” on Friday, April 19th. We will be playing some Frog and Toad Reading Board Games using words from the story also.
Grammar – We will continue our unit on Adjectives and descriptive writing. The students will have a “Bag It” project due on Friday, April 12th. (This is a project grade. Please e-mail us with any questions. Adjective Test will be Thursday, April 25th.
Fundations – We will begin Unit 6! We will be doing word work with long vowels and silent e. Example words are: hope, confuse, reptile, olive, inventive. We will continue to practice suffixes. Our trick words for this unit are: only, house, move, right, together, place. Please make sure your child can spell these words. The HW packet will come home Tuesday and is due on April 19th, which is the same day as the Unit Test. We will have a check up (classwork) grade on April 12th.
Word Study – We are doing a short i/long i sort in class this week to go with our Fundations unit. (Words will not be tested and no HW will be assigned for this sort.)
Math: We will wrap up our unit on Subtraction with Regrouping this week. Students will solve story problems using regrouping and will practice several math stations this week as well. Our Test on Subtraction with Regrouping will be this Friday, April 12. Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday and please practice this skill with your child – it is one of the most challenging math concepts in 2nd grade! Thank you!
