*Mrs. Routson/Mrs. Webb’s Reading Group: We will be reading chapter 3 this week of “Frog and Toad Together” and doing comprehension activities with the story. We will be doing Earth Day activities the rest of our L.A. block including: making an Earth Day Book, making a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle mobile, researching Earthworms, making an Earthworm craft with a chart about them, writing about Earthworms, researching the Earth and Earthworms, and reading stories related to Earth Day! We will have a cold read practice on Thursday. It’s going to be a fun week!
Grammar – We will review adjectives and the Adjective Quiz will be Thursday, April 25th.
Fundations – We will review on Monday and Test Unit 6 on Tuesday! Please check the spiral notebook on Monday night for materials covered (very similar to the homework)!
Math: We will continue our unit on Shapes this week. We will introduce solid figures (3-dimensional shapes) and relate them to plane shapes (2-dimensional). Vocabulary will be especially important during this unit, so please review these terms with your child nightly. Terms to know this week: Solid Figures (3D shapes or shapes with depth) base (the bottom flat surface of a solid object), edge (the line where 2 faces meet), face (flat surface that makes up a solid figure), sphere (solid figure that is curved with no face, base, or vertices), cylinder (solid figure with 2 flat circular faces, 0 edges, 0 vertices) cube (solid figure with 6 flat square faces, 8 vertices, 12 edges), cone (solid shape with 1 flat round face, 0 edges, 1 vertex) rectangular prism (solid figure with 6 flat rectangular faces, 8 vertices, 12 edges) pyramid (solid figure with 1 square base and 4 triangular faces – 5 faces in all, 5 vertices, 8 edges). Homework will be assigned Monday – Thursday this week. PLEASE REVIEW THESE TERMS WITH YOUR CHILD!
